EVENT SURVEY

Lethbridge School Division Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Survey

Why is Lethbridge School Division conducting this survey?

Over the last number of years, in order to support all members of the school community, Lethbridge School Division has received feedback from students, families, staff and community members regarding the need for anti-racism and anti-oppression work in our School Division and community. In the 2022/2023 school year, we heard directly from our school stakeholders in our Town Hall event, and from our students at the Student Wellness and Inclusion Forum. Both events produced feedback regarding the importance of developing procedures regarding our Division Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Policy 103.1. (https://www.lethsd.ab.ca/download/400582). The Lethbridge School Division Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression Policy speaks to a vision for our community of learners.

It is our vision to create a community of reflective, engaged citizens continuously striving for a culture free of racism and oppression.

The purpose of this survey is to provide an opportunity for parents, guardians, caregivers, secondary students, staff, board members, and community members to provide perspective on building a culture free of racism and oppression. Thank you for responding. We look forward to learning and growing together.

Budget Survey - March 6-15

Lethbridge School Division has begun preparation of the 2023/2024 Preliminary Budget. Approximately 91% of the Division’s total revenue comes from Alberta Education. Student enrolment is the most significant factor in determining the Division’s funding.
Through this budget engagement tool, we are seeking input into the development on the instruction area of the budget. In 2022/2023 the instruction budget was approximately 72% of the Division’s total budget, which was approximately $136 million.
Using this tool, you will have the opportunity to provide input into the percentage of the instruction budget should be allocated to each area. Note that as you adjust the spending in one area, it will impact funds available in another area. For example, if a higher percentage is allocated to be spent on Educational Assistants than last year, you will need to reduce funds in another area. By allocating 0%, you will be completely excluding spending in this area, which may not be realistic due to operational, contractual or legislative requirements.
There is also an opportunity to provide other information or feedback at the end of the allocation tool.
Thank you for taking the time to provide information through the budget engagement tool. Information gathered will help inform budget decision making for the 2023/2024 based on stakeholder priorities as outlined in the results.
